Following on from a very successful illustration commission with Richard Fordham recently, producing a music cover illustration for his up and coming music record, I’m pleased to announce I was asked to create an illustration for his next track, which you can see below.
Titled ‘Christmas Is Coming’ by Richard Fordham, the idea behind this track was pointing fun at celebrating Christmas so early in the year, that Richard has done marvellously! This illustration was developed within my sketchbook, and final artwork produced on Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
The project required a very fast turnaround so I put aside my usual gouache and watercolour paintbrushes and made this illustration digitally, something I’m doing more and more of at the moment.
Much like the first illustration commission a few weeks ago, I wanted to create an album cover that was eye catching, appealing to a wide audience, whilst giving some flavour into the artist and track. I spent a lot of my attention to the character and portrait of the piece, that perfectly represents the music record.
Going with festive reds, and expressing a rather frustrated character in the middle, it was a very fun project to produce for Richard, and I hope you like it too! I’ve included some detailed shots from the illustration, that includes the festive Christmas hat, detail of the character’s face, and a little crop from his clothing.
