Haydn has produced this New Zealand illustrated map featuring Haydn’s favourite tourist destinations from his 2 month visit. This map features the magical Milford Sound, energetic Queenstown to the mind-blowing Rotorua. Illustrated with purpose of tourists using the map, and those who want to visit this brilliant country.
Developing the composition in Haydn’s sketchbook, Haydn experiment with different layouts so it works for the overall image. The main challenge with this illustrated map was to communicate each place effectively, fitting everything into quite a small width. The main purpose of this illustration is to give the audience a flavour of each location. Without too much of a bias towards one place or area (which was difficult has Haydn loves Milford Sound).
Painted with acrylic and digital using a limited colour palette , focusing on blue, green, orange and pinkish red.
This New Zealand illustrated map gives viewers a chance to plan their route, and see what areas they like the look of. It communicates why New Zealand is such a special country. Haydn highly recommends a visit to anyone!
Other maps that Haydn has illustrated include Signapore map illustration, to Berlin map, one of Haydn’s favourite cities.
