Haydn was asked by Mary Christie Foundation Quarterly Magazine to produce a magazine cover illustration for their up and coming Spring 2019 / 13 issue. An organisation that was created in 2015, it’s dedicated to the health and wellness of teens, young adults, and the next generation of thought leaders.
This issue looks at student activism and the power of student leaders on campus. This young generation are taking a stand, and are using their status to voice their opinions, especially when it comes to influencing more executive decision-making. Haydn was asked to create magazine cover illustration that is bold, a visualization of power dynamics coming from the ground up and is direct.
Focusing on a powerful young adult within the centre of the magazine cover illustration, the scene paints the picture of the power of student activism, and how these groups can make a stand against mental health issues in the educational system. This illustration is produced with a limited gouache colour palette, using elements of watercolour and digital to form the piece.
