Before I start this blog post, I want to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! I hope it’s filled great times, great family and great friends, I’m really looking forward to 2016 and what it has in store!
I’ve been fortunate enough to work with some fantastic projects and clients this year, from Cracked Eye Publication, working on some typographic illustrations with the UKScouts, to producing album artwork, this year has been a good one!
I thought it would be good to showcase my Year In Review with you, and feature my commissions and personal projects for you to see how this year has been for me, and to hopefully inspire myself into 2016!
Clerkenwell Post Magazine Illustration
One of the first illustrations I produced in 2015 was for The Clerkenwell Post, which is a free magazine in Clerkenwell. Producing the magazine cover and an internal magazine illustration, this issue looked at the past and present politics in and around Clerkenwell, including Tony Blair, the topic of Liberty and John Wilkes. It was a very enjoyable project to be a part of, that I thoroughly enjoyed!
Cracked Eye Publication Illustration
Working with the brilliant guys over at Cracked Eye Publication, I was asked to create illustrations to be featured within their up and coming books. Cracked Eye is the leading specialist in digital publications for your mobile, tablet and other devices. They sell excellently written novels, which is combined with excellent illustrations. This book was called ‘Life at the Morgue’.
UKScouts Typographic Quote
I was asked by the UKScouts to produce a typographic illustration for their official social media accounts on Twitter and Facebook, responding to the quote; “Art flourishes where there is a sense of adventure” by Alfred North Whitehead. I have a big passion for combining typography and illustration together, and this illustration was produced using digital techniques.
Odiham Swimming Club Website Design & Development
I love working with local clients, and this project was especially close to me personally. Having been a swimming teacher at Odiham Swimming Club when I was in my teenager years, I was asked to create a new website that attracts brand new members to their club, and to refresh their brand. On top of the new design, I also created various illustrations for the website.
Music Cover
This was a new type of illustration commission for me, as I was asked to produce two album covers for Richard Fordham, who is a local musician to myself. Producing an illustration for his up and coming song, this vector illustration is filled with characters, colour and type, and it was a fantastic creative project to be a part off!
I hope you enjoyed this last look at my 2015 illustration year in review, and I hope you have a wicked Christmas and New Year, see you in 2016!
