I hope you’re all having a great week and your January is flying by! I’ve been working on a new animation commission recently (that I’ll share with you soon), portraits within my sketchbook, and have been updating my illustration portfolio with new work like these portrait paintings! Happy days!
If you’re a keen follower of my Twitter or Instagram profile in particular, you’ll know that I have a keen interest with portrait paintings, and sketching and painting portraits who are currently in the news spotlight. I find this more interesting as these people are currently been talked about, and there’s always some debate to have.
So being a big portrait fan, I’m also a big fan of sport, and have painted these two current British sporting stars who are ‘very of the moment’; Jonjo Shelvey and Johanna Konta. One who has just signed for Newcastle United (my football team!), and one for reaching the semi-finals of a tennis grand slam.
I want to showcase my portrait skills to potential clients and customers, as I simply love producing illustrated portraits, so I thought adding these two would make perfect sense!
Johanna Konta & Jonjo Shelvey Portrait Paintings
These portrait paintings have been produced with gouache, watercolour and edited in Adobe Photoshop, which is a real life saver to me. The editing part is crucial to my process, as I correct mistakes, make portraits more lifelike, and is a great way to fix colours. I’ve recently added this to my portfolio, which can be found here.
If you would like to see more of my portrait paintings, or more of my illustrations in particular, do visit my portfolio, which is packed full of all of my illustration commissions. I’ve also recently sent my January illustration newsletter to my email subscribers, so if you would like to be kept up to date with what I’m working on, sign up to my newsletter. I’ll love to see you on there!
I hope you have enjoyed these two new illustrations, and I’ve included some detail shots from these two portraits – shame Johanna Konta couldn’t go further in the Australian Open, but she did very well indeed, here’s hoping for her future success at Wimbledon!
Enjoy these two illustrations!
Many thanks for listening and visiting my news page today. You can follow what I’m up to on my Twitter, Facebook or Google + pages, I’ll really appreciate it if you do, and don’t be afraid to say hi to me! Many thanks again, and have a great day!
