Alongside my previous blog post that I’ve recently created, working on a new map illustration for a new exciting client (more on that soon), to timely new updates to my website, I’m happy to announce that I’ve recently received my complimentary copy of Alan Male’s ‘The Power & Influence of Illustration’, published by Bloomsbury.
Like I was mentioning a few months back, the book features some of my work in – great news!! I’m ecstatic by how it looks, and I hope you are too!
Featuring my collaborative project with Mat Klicz, a Graphic Designer from London, we worked together to produce a series of currency designs based on George Orwell’s Animal Farm.
If you didn’t already know, I’ve recently started a new enterprise called Meusyou! Helping sports clubs manage their whole club from one platform, we help with members, staff to payment. It might seem a big difference to the world of illustration and art, but I love sport, and after providing a website for Odiham Swimming Club a few years back (which we also produced a database system for), this seemed like a great product and service to be a part of! Check Meusyou out on the link above!
I illustrated the characters of the novel, including Boxer, Snowball to Napoleon, whilst Mat produced the design of the notes and brought the piece together.
The Language of Drawing
I’m really happy with how it looks within the book, and the book is excellently designed, researched and written, and it’s a pleasure to have our work featured inside. I highly recommend it to anyone (and that’s not because my work has been featured – maybe…haha!).
Our work is featured on page 94-95 (a double page spread!), which looks at the language of drawing, and how illustrations are used as a metaphor or paradigm – which these illustrations very much depict.
It was a pleasure to be asked by Alan and Bloomsbury Publishing to be featured in the book, which you can buy here. I’m super chuffed, and if you’d like to discover more about this project, do head on over to my portfolio page. (Unfortunately there was an error with credits within the book though, as Mat’s name hasn’t been mentioned, seems like a error in processing – who will be credited in the reprinted version).
Enjoy The Illustrations!
I hope you enjoy these images below – the book will be a firm favourite on my bookshelf for a while yet. The book isn’t out until the 22nd February 2019, but you can pre-order from today.
It’s great to see your work in a book like this one, and hopefully they’ll be more and more to come in the future!
Head over to my portfolio if you’re new to my illustration work, check out my previous blog posts or hit me up on the social media links below – I would love to hear from you!
Many thanks for listening and visiting my news page today. You can follow what I’m up to on my Twitter, Facebook or Google + pages, I’ll really appreciate it if you do, and don’t be afraid to say hi to me! Many thanks again, and have a great day!
