Here’s a peek inside my sketchbook fulled with sketchbook drawings and art to feast your eyes on!
It’s been a while since my last sketchbook update (sorry about that)!
But here’s an unfiltered zone where I test ideas, make messes, and sometimes surprise myself too.
It’s the PERFECT place to experiment with new ways of working and new mediums and materials outside of commissioned work.
You’ll find everything from quick bird sketches and loose pencil portraits to inked landscapes and figure studies. Some turn out better than expected, whilst some didn’t quite go to plan (but hey, that’s the point, right?).
I’ll keep adding to this post as the pages fill up, so check back if you’re into watching a sketchbook evolve in real time.
Other Tasty Resources
Whether I’m trying to loosen up with a biro or get lost in pencil shading for an hour, this is the kind of drawing practice that keeps things fun and low-pressure.
If you’re trying to improve your own sketching skills, you might like this recent YouTube video I made: 5 Drawing Exercises to Instantly Level Up Your Skills — no fancy materials needed, just a sketchbook, a pen, and some time.
There’s also a David Bowie portrait time-lapse on there too, if you’re more into stylised illustration and dramatic cheekbones.
Oh, and if perspective makes your brain melt – don’t worry. I wrote a full blog post on the only perspective exercise you’ll ever need to stop drawing buildings that look like they’re falling over.
It’s helped loads of artists get unstuck with one-point, two-point, and beyond. Check it out if your sketchbook is currently a perspective-free zone.
Hope you enjoy this blog post packed with sketchbook drawings and art!
