I’ve always been inspired and influenced by landscape illustrations, which might be the reason I love illustrated maps so much.
Combining nature, buildings, people, the sun and the rain always crops up in my work every now and again. Taking this inspiration into some new illustrations, I’ve recently produced these two artworks of the Sydney Opera House in Australia and Basil Cathedral in Russia.
When producing these landscape illustrations I wanted to concentrate on flat shapes, keeping the images simple, and only using a certain amount of colours.
I find my work looks more visually pleasing when I strip back the illustration. This has developed over time and took some practice to get used to.
Keeping It Simple With These Landscape Illustrations
The result are these two landscape illustrations that you can see below. These fit in well to my intended outcome of simplicity whilst being effective in the way it looks and feels.
I was particularly influenced by the Basil Cathedral for it’s bright colours and strong architecture, and would love to travel there one day (even though it looks pretty damn cold).
These two landscape illustrations are now new on my illustration portfolio.
I’m looking to produce more landscape illustrations over the next few weeks and months, and continually add to my portfolio. Of course you will be the first to hear about it when I do. For now though sit back and see what you think of these two new illustrations, that were produced with gouache, watercolour and digital.
I’ll love to know what you think of these two brand new landscape illustrations by either commenting below or hitting me up on Twitter.
(Oh, and you can also buy these two illustrations as art prints over on my website or Etsy Shop, have a look and see what you think. All art prints are printed onto thick, durable card)
Many thanks for listening and visiting my news page today. You can follow what I’m up to on my Twitter, Facebook or Google + pages, I’ll really appreciate it if you do, and don’t be afraid to say hi to me! Many thanks again, and have a great day!
