As I haven’t produced an illustration for Kids With Puns in a while, I thought I ought too! If your not familiar with Kids With Puns, which I’ve previously illustrated for, it’s a printed publication, which also has an online blog, that celebrates the illustrated pun.
It asks illustrators, artists and designers to illustrate puns, a very clever idea which I’m always pleased to illustrate for. With my illustrated pun, which I instantly liked, as it was thought of by Tom (the creator of KWP), was the pun ‘I’m always given the cold shoulder at the butchers.’ From a couple of sketchbook sketches of ideas and composition thumbnails, and that of internet reference, I began with the final illustration.
I wanted to subtly convey the coldness of the butcher, by just a turn of the head, which hopefully sits with the pun well.
This illustration will be part of Kids With Puns online collection, and will also be part of a printed publication, which I’ll be a part of. I’ve also answered a few questions so you can discover a little bit more about me and my illustrations.
I’m not sure when this will be out for you to own yourself, but be sure to get your hands on one, it’s seems like a great issue.
Many thanks for listening and visiting my news page today. You can follow what I’m up to on my Twitter, Facebook or Google + pages, I’ll really appreciate it if you do, and don’t be afraid to say hi to me! Many thanks again, and have a great day!
