I wanted to try something a bit new for my next painting / illustration, so with today’s post I’ve experimented with using only water colour as a source of paint, which I really enjoyed! It’s actually my first water colour painting, and I don’t think it turned out too badly for my first go.

The properties of water colour versus gouache are totally different to one an other, which both has it’s positives and negatives. With water colour, I love the way you can apply wet on wet techniques, with the colours merging together, not knowing what you’ll get.

I think I’ll have to do this sort of experimentation again to see what other techniques I can come up with, like water colour and then gouache on top? The possibilities are endless, which is exciting!

I like to experiment in my personal work so I can see what areas of painting I can bring into my commissioned work. This painting will also be sold as an original at my up and coming craft fair on Saturday, which I’m very much looking forward to.

Many thanks for listening and visiting my news page today. You can follow what I’m up to on my Twitter, Facebook or Google + pages, I’ll really appreciate it if you do, and don’t be afraid to say hi to me! Many thanks again, and have a great day!
