Travel Sketchbook Update – September to November

Hey guys! So I haven’t posted in about a month and a bit, but there’s a good reason for it, believe me! If you don’t follow me on Instagram, Twitter or any of the other main social networks, I’m currently traveling with my younger brother around Southern Asia at the moment!

Traveling is something that I have wanted to do for a while now, (including many other places that I also want to visit – a never ending list), and see a bit of the world whilst I can! It’s all going great so far, and I’m absolutely loving it!

Seeing a completely different culture, (even though it was a shock at first), stunning landscapes and fun activities – what’s not to like? And not to mention the very friendly and welcoming people.

So I thought why not publish my travel sketchbook so far? Here’s how my travel story has unfolded;

The Story Behind This Travel Sketchbook Update

I flew out on September 23rd (to be exact) from London Heathrow to Mumbai, where I took another flight to Bangkok – my first destination (and where I met my brother).

After the hustle and bustle of Bangkok (a city which I probably wouldn’t go back to again – too intense and the humidity is crazy!), we took a bus trip down lasting 14 hours to Phuket, boat trip to Phi Phi Island, and along the east coast of Southern Thailand.

A beautiful place with many islands to visit, with white sand, pure blue water and brilliant scenery, a place I would recommend to anyone! Boarding another flight to Chiang Mai (my favourite place in Thailand – so chilled out and so many things to do), we are now in Luang Prabang where I write this today!

Luang Prabang is another great city in the heart of Laos, a very poor country, which is poorer than Thiland (Thaliand’s GDP is 400 billion USD, Laos is only 15 billion USD!). It’s an unspoiled, beautiful place which has great architecture, a French influence and the Mekong river, a trans-boundary river in Southeast Asia that the world’s 12th-longest river.

So this post is a bit different to my previous sketchbook updates, and will showcase my travel sketchbook so far!

I have included a selection of sketches from the past 6 weeks – and how it has flown by! I try and draw everyday, even though sometimes time is a major issue and I just can’t fit it in!

From here we travel to Hanoi in Vietnam, Halong, Cat Ba Island, a flight to Hong Kong (where we will spend Christmas!), off to Tokyo for New Years, and then down Eastern Australia from a month before working out there for a year!

My highlight has been The Elephant Jungle Sanctury in Chiang Mai, white water rafting, the islands off Phuket and Chiang Mai itself.

I hope you like this unusual travel sketchbook update from myself, showcasing my travels so far! Let me know what you think of it by hitting me up on social media at the links below, or have a look at my illustration portfolio!

I have recently produced an A2 family drawing commission, which was a great project to work on, and a new book cover that I illustrated and designed!

Many thanks for listening and visiting my news page today. You can follow what I’m up to on my Twitter, Facebook or Google + pages, I’ll really appreciate it if you do, and don’t be afraid to say hi to me! Many thanks again, and have a great day!
