I’ve been a bit addicted to typography and hand rendered quotes lately, as I really enjoy producing unique typefaces, and I want to improve this side of my designing skills.
Hopefully producing and uploading illustrated quotes frequently, you can see how my typography improves, and how I can include this into my commissioned and personal work. Soon I will try what I’m learning here, into a book cover or map illustration of some sort, and see how that fares!
Like my last quotes, I went on the internet to source some inspiration for the quote, and stumbled across this one, “Practice Makes Perfect” – not sure who the originator is, but it’s always been a quote which I’ve stuck to.
With each illustrated quote I upload, I’ll vary the typefaces which I produce, just so I can learn even more about type.
I have also shown a couple of my sketchbook pages leading up to the final illustration, here you can see a snapshot of my thought process before the final version. The illustration was produced with gouache and scanned into Photoshop.
