I wanted to publish this small post today and feature one of my latest personal portrait experimentations. I wanted to experiment with other digital elements that I can corporate into the piece, like drawing onto the portrait with the brush tool, adding more gradients and playing around with the light sources a bit more. I’m really enjoying this side of my illustrations, and is a big contrast to my original paintings, as Photoshop can make a piece much stronger, in terms of contrast, colours and final touches.
I think I’m always going to paint traditionally however, as I love the process of creating something ‘real’, with my own hands, as my eyes will probably go square if I created the whole piece on the computer. But I love combining both these elements, as I feel its really benefiting my illustration work well.
What do you think, do you like where I’m taking my artwork?
