Even though I’ve been super busy over the past few weeks (I think this might be my busiest period ever, which is always good of course), I’ve been able to add to my typography portfolio of Georges Simenon’s quote – “The lake and the mountains have become my landscape, my real world.”
I’ve always had a big interest in the combination of type and illustration together, and after receiving some good responses from a client about my previous typographic quote illustrations, I wanted to showcase some more of it in my portfolio.
After looking throughout the internet for some good quotes, I was attracted to this quote, as I could combine my interest in landscape and map illustration, and also produce some good type to go alongside it, which I do hope you like!
The landscape is produced with gouache and watercolour, whilst the typographic element of the illustration has been produced digitally, so I can easily position the type wherever I want, change colour, thickness .etc.
I really enjoy combining digital elements with more traditional forms of illustration, which I feel my illustration showcases effectively. This is something which I’m constantly adapting and improving as time goes on.
