I’ve been wanting to create another typographic illustration for a while now, as I really enjoy producing them and responding to that of interesting, and sometimes funny quotes! For today’s post I had a look online and selected a quote which really appealed to me, which was “behind every man is a woman rolling her eyes”, Jim Carey. The quote instantly caught my attention as it offered a lot of visually interesting concepts, and was quite a funny quote which I could illustrate to. From this, I started developing how I wanted the quote to be communicated within my sketchbook, and played around with different letter forms and imagery. I wanted to experiment with incorporating both type and image together, which is seen below within the word of ‘eyes’, with a face in between the word. I wanted the piece to represent humour and have a light side about it, which I hopefully got across. I feel that my language within hand rendered type is coming along well, which I’m thoroughly enjoying. Below you can see my sketchbook development pages, and the final typographic illustration.
