I’m always keen to discover new music, as it makes up a large part of my life – I don’t think I can go one day without it!
I generally listen to Drum & Bass, House & Electronic (which you may either love or absolutely hate – depending on your taste), but when I was recently asked by Philippe Debongnie to produce an illustration for ‘Jazz & Draw’, my eyes we’re opened to a brand new genre of music, which I had a great time illustrating!
Even though my listening taste are these three genres, this illustration project allowed me to discover jazz, and how easy listening and fantastic it can be.
‘Jazz & Draw‘ is an online publication which celebrates illustration and jazz, which is a fantastic idea in my opinion :-D. I haven’t really listened to much jazz before this project, but I instantly feel in love with it. From here, I produced an figurative illustration which can inspired by Michael Paulo’s ‘All I Need’ track,
After listening to the track, I wanted to produce an illustration which truly reflects the track – which if you listen to it here, is an upbeat, happy and ‘jazzy’ number, which I wanted to communicated with my illustration.
My illustration features a portrait illustration of Michael Paulo himself, incorporating vivid shapes, lines and colour, which was all produced with gouache and watercolour. I’ve incorporated some details below too :-D.
I had a great time painting this one – which I hope you enjoy too!
