Editorial Illustrator – Looking Into The Future Makes You Happier

I really like editorial illustrations which are based on interesting articles, and this was no exception! Being an editorial illustrator, it’s always good for me to produce personal projects like this one today, to keep me on my toes.

The article was about people who look at the present and future are happier, to those people in contrast who think about their past, tend to be unhappier. It’s the type of editorial that the editorial illustrator loves, and I especially loved it!

A new type of therapy that could help a lot of people, I learnt quite a lot from the article alone.

But back to the illustration, I wanted to base my idea on the whole idea of if your looking towards the future, your happier. After various mind mapping and thumbnail sketches in my sketchbook, I came up with the final illustration below.

How This Editorial Illustrator Developed The Idea

I have shown within the smile of this character, a forward facing arrow, which is symbolising forward thinking, and that of looking into the future. I’m quite happy about how the final version went, and happy about the colours which I used.

Below also shows my colour tryouts within my sketchbook before going into the final illustration. I find this part important, as it lets me see what colours I will use, and not just guess as I go along.

I’m an editorial illustrator from the UK, and I’m always open to new commissions. From magazine, newspaper, all the way through to publications, I look forward to hearing about your editorial project. I’m focused on strong ideas, eye catching illustrations and making an illustration look great.

Many thanks for listening and visiting my news page today. You can follow what I’m up to on my Twitter, Facebook or Google + pages, I’ll really appreciate it if you do, and don’t be afraid to say hi to me! Many thanks again, and have a great day!
